Pastoral visit to Long San, Long Liaw and Long Aton
12th to 14th May 2018.

The journey by road recorded 363 km distance one way from Miri to  Kem Kilo 10 Central Baram Base Camp St Anthony Chapel enroute to Long San Gereja St Paul Church, Long Liaw Longhouse and Long Aton St Paul Chapel. The boat ride to Long Liaw took one hour 15 mins upriver Nibong rapids.

Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng and Fr. Joseph Ding celebrated four masses at the following locations -
(1) Sunset mass on 12th May 2018 at St Anthony Chapel,  Kilo 10 Central Baram Base Camp.
(2) Morning mass on 13th May 2018 at Gereja St Paul Church, Long San.
(3) Evening mass on 13th May 2018 at Longhouse Long Liaw.
(4) Morning mass on 14th May 2018 at St Paul Chapel, Long Aton.



Long Liaw 33 doors Penan longhouse is 78 km from Long San by road and another one hour 15 mins by boat via rapids Nibong river.  Bitang Sika the tua kampung Long Liaw mentioned the Penan longhouse community majority are catholics.

Long Aton 22 doors Kenyah longhouse was burnt down last year 16th August 2017.  Development is underway to reconstruct the original 42 years old 50 doors longhouse built in 1976.  Christianity is the predominant religion of Kenyah people, with the majority belonging to the Roman Catholic Faith.  Tua Kampung Michael Kebing Avit in his welcoming speech mentioned evangelization was started by the milhill priests from Marudi Missionary when the only means of transportation was by boat and deep jungle walk to reach the people of Baram.
