Sixty-four candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation at Geriji Indai Maria, Bukit Peninjau, Bekenu on 18th August 2019 where Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng and Fr. Liam Durrant celebrated morning Mass Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time with some 280 parishioners coming from various kampungs and longhouses around Bekenu.
The church Geriji Indai Maria is 52.4 km away from Miri. The Mill Hill priests Fr. Matthieu Kanapen and Fr. Van de Geist were the pioneers who first established the church and brought the Catholic Faith to the Iban communities in Batu Niah and Bekenu.
