The pastoral visit to St Peter Parish, Tatau on Saturday 29th June 2019 took 3 hours 20 minutes to drive from Miri to Tatau 240 km distance one way.  From Tatau parish another 11.5 km drive to Rumah Dingon ak Janang 26-door Iban wooden longhouse 85% Catholic where Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng and Fr. Peter Mering Nyipa celebrated sunset Mass with some 130 parishioners.

On 30th June 2019, Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng and Fr. Peter Mering Nyipa celebrated 8am Mass 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time at Gereja St Peter, Tatau with some 400 parishioners seated inside the church designed to accomodate additonal 200 pax seated outside the shaded main entrance (400 pax inside, 200 pax outside).

Fr. Peter Mering Nyipa is the Rector of St Peter Parish, Tatau.  From Uma Akeh, he was ordained on 19th November 1978 at Long Banyok, Baram together with Monsignor Francis Kuleh Usat.

Three pioneer local priests Monsignor Francis Kuleh Usat, Fr. Peter Mering Nyipa and Fr. Philip Empalah celebrated their 40th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination at the Church of Mater Dei on 20th November 2018 with more than 2000 parishioners.

Today 30th June 2019, Fr. Peter Mering Nyipa has served 40 years 7 months in the Diocese of Miri.
