Message of Bishop Richard Ng for Lent 2019

Baptised and Sent

My dear brothers and sisters, once again we enter the season of Lent, a special time of grace from the Lord.
This year, the universal Church is organising an Extraordinary Month for Mission in October 2019. The Church of Christ is on a permanent mission to the world. Every baptised Christian must be on mission to spread the gospel message to the world. Hence our theme for this Extraordinary Month for Mission is “Baptised and Sent”.

Lent is the season, more than any other, when we renew our baptism vows. Every baptised person must live a life of love in imitation of Christ. This is what we mean by mission, that every baptised person must spread the gospel message of love and make Christ known.

We can carry out our mission in many ways. We can distribute bibles, get involved in a project to help the poor, help prepare catechumens for baptism and share our faith experiences.
The best way to do mission is by witnessing to the goodness, love and mercy of God. We witness best by our actions of love and mercy especially for the weak and poor. There is no better time to start witnessing to God’s love and goodness than the season of Lent.

Bishop Richard
