A remarkable first pastoral visit by Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng accompanied by Fr. John Mcaulay to Uma Badeng, Long Lawen, sungei Tekulang, Belaga on Saturday 24th November 2018.
On Sunday 25th November 2018, His Lordship Bishop Richard Ng officially opened and blessed Gereja St Nicholas, Long Lawen prior to celebrating the Mass and administering Sacrament of Confirmation to 52 candidates both students and working adults. Gereja St Nicholas is under St Francis Xavier Parish, Belaga where Fr. John Mcaulay is the Rector. Around 230 parishioners participated in the Mass with 150 parishioners seated inside the chapel and 80 paarishioners seated outside the chapel front entrance.
Uma Badeng, Long Lawen is a 67 doors Kenyah longhouse, 34 doors Catholics and 33 doors SIB. Tua kampung Gara Jalong mentioned Gereja St Nicholas built in 2013 by the "Gotong Royong" community was completed in 2017.
Uma Badeng, Long Lawen longhouse resettled in 1998, successfully commissioned and maintained their own micro hydro-electric system for lightings and low powered appliances since 1999.
